Supporting young academics

The Commission supports the organisation of palaeontological symposia. The commission also awards a young researcher for the best talk in the Palaeontology session at the yearly Swiss Geoscience Meeting with the Paleoprize. The winner receives CHF 1000 and the Commission offers the possibility to publish for free her/his research results full open access in the Swiss Journal of Palaeontology should she/he not have fundings to do so.

Applications for the Paleoprize should be submitted in a simple format (cover letter with abstract) to the President of the Commission. Prerequisites are that the applicant is actively involved in palaeontological research in Switzerland (MSc- or PhD-student, maximum 3 years of PostDoc). The applicant has to present her/his research at the Swiss Geosciences Meeting with a presentation that is evaluated by the present members of the Commission.
